Snow Day #3 (Another Ice update)
Thursday, February 11, 2010
Yesterday a reader pointed out that the latest Ice update had a misaligned stance, and sure enough, she does stand several pixels lower than she used to. Apparently this was a regression from the previous release, and I didn't catch it. Rozeros on the ScruffyDragon forums also pointed out that she erroneously was hiding the lifebars during her air medium kick. Then I saw that aa250 at the CVG forum had posted a few minor bugs he had found too. So, I felt like a minor update was needed.
When I got into fixing these bugs, I decided she needed voice clips for taunt and lose-by-timeover, so I added those too. And while I was at it, I knew she was missing her arcade intro, so I finished that up too:

Ice arcade intro
And then I decided that I needed to redo the damage and projectile effects for Iceball and Absolute Zero, to make her more playable and (I hope) balanced. So quite a few changes, actually.
You can get the updated Ice v1.6 on her page.

Snowed in!
Saturday, February 06, 2010
My family and I have been enjoying the nearly 2 feet of snow we've gotten over the past few days, the biggest winter storm this part of the country has seen in decades. In honor of the occasion, I felt like updating Ice. So here's her fourth hyper... Ice Missles:

Ice Missles hyper
Still working on Parasite and Hal Jordan. I'll have more to say about one or both of them next week. But until then, you can download and enjoy Ice's update here.

Ice update/remix 1.4
Sunday, May 03, 2009

Today I'm proud to offer up the latest and greatest version of Ice. Thanks to the very generous work of Sei, she's now sporting her familiar comic look with the leg stripes. (Thanks, Sei! :)) The other major change you'll notice in this release is that a preliminary version of her Amalgam hyper is in there. It'll change for DCvM, but there you go.
Right now you can get the update here on her page, but it'll soon be mirrored at ScruffyDragon as well.

On the 1st Day of Christmas...
Thursday, December 25, 2008
Merry Christmas to one and all! (even those of you that don't celebrate / aren't Christians / etc). My fellow ScruffyDragons are helping me to continue the tradition I started last year, and today is the first day of the "12 Days of MUGEN"... so, here's your gift, courtesy of Lumina's sprites and my code, Pocket Ice:
She's got most of what my "big Ice" has, and a few small tweaks here and there as well. Still more Lumina and I would like to add to her, but I think she makes a fine entry for today's gift. I hope you all think so too.
For now, you can download her at my site; I can't upload to the SD server from my mother-in-law's house so one of the other Dragons will have to do it for me: Pocket Ice v0.9
Enjoy!

The 7th Day of Christmas
Tuesday, January 01, 2008

Sorry this one's coming late in the evening; looks like the 12-days releases will be in the evenings from here on out.
Anyway, here's Day 7's gift: an update to Ice that I've been working on for the past few months. Here's what she's got:
- Added Ice Shield special (F,D,DF + P)
- Added new stance by Wucash & BobStarsky (thanks, guys!)
- Changed standing hard kick (close range) to a launcher
- Added better air comboing
Go get Ice here.
As with all the other chars I've released in this 12-days blitz, please feel free to post any feedback you have in her release thread, here.

Ice update
Friday, July 21, 2006

Thanks to new ScruffyDragon/DCvM team member ShinGouken, Ice now has an awesome A.I.... she can even hold her own against Loganir's monster, Thor! Which is great, since I haven't yet wrapped my brain around how exactly AI programming is supposed to work. -_-
Anyway, download the update on her page, here.
Also, a quick progress update on my current WIPs, roughly in the order I'm working on them:
SavageHulk:
- finished basics, added 2 specials & 1 hyper. 3 specials & 3 hypers to add
Black Cat (programming for XFields):
- most basics are done
Doom 2099 (programming for AlienMorph):
- most basics are done; 3 specials & 2 hypers to add
Parasite:
- basics are still proceeding, slowly (I chose some HARD frankensprite bases! =P)
- he can now steal & use powers from about half of the characters on the DCvsMarvel Phase 1 roster.
Green Lantern Hal Jordan (team WIP with Enzo & Arque):
- Enzo & Arque are redoing a bunch of his basics; I just posted the semi-final palettes to his WIP page yesterday.
Lex Luthor (programming for Enzo):
- basics in progress
Lobo:
- a few custom intros/winposes to finish
- 1 more special & 2 more hypers to be done
(All others are on hold... but isn't this enough for one person to be tackling? =P)

Ice update
Monday, April 10, 2006

I've updated Ice... I've still got a few things I want to add to her, but she's getting close to being done too.
New in this release:
- merged "Hyper Iceball" with "Absolute Zero" to make a better combined hyper (both were kind of lame before)
- tweaked the head stomp move
- iceballs now drain a little of P2's power
- bunch of bugfixes:
-- fixed reversal vulnerability in Icicle Edge & Ice Maiden
-- fix iceball "infinite"
-- fixed the select screen portrait (had pink dots before)
(as with all my chars, the readme file has more details)
Get her here.

Minor character updates
Friday, January 06, 2006
Ice & Lobo both have minor updates coming soon, maybe by the end of the month. I've also started working in earnest on Parasite.Loganir has decided that he wants to program John Stewart, and since he & McCready are the ones doing the sprite edits, that's their prerogative. Anyway, it means one less WIP for me, which I suppose is a good thing. On the other hand, I've picked up a new WIP for the Marvel 2099 project. No character page yet, but I'm doing the initial coding for Medrop's Spider-Man 2099. So I guess it all balances out, somehow. ;)
Site update news
Tuesday, December 27, 2005
I updated Ice over the weekend with a small sprite patch, so she fit in to normal MUGEN screenpacks... the initial release contained stuff that was specific to the DCvsMarvel game screenpack (which will be released with the project beta, hopefully in Q1 or Q2 2006). I still have some tweaks I want to do before I can call her finalized; if you have comments, feel free to weigh in over at the DC vs Marvel forum. Also revamped the characters page somewhat, to better reflect what's in beta, what's released, and what's still just a WIP. I'm not 100% satisfied with it (I would need 1 more DC character WIP for the whole thing to fit together properly as is =P), but it's better than it was, I think.
You'll notice new screenshots in just about every character section, except Silver Surfer & Hal Jordan. Those will come in time... progress is being made, but due to sprite theft concerns, I now only post specials & hypers on these pages. :-S
I've also added John Stewart & Warmachine WIP pages to the characters section. That makes 8 WIPs in total that I'm still working on, 9 if you count Ice. I must be totally insane. =P
Merry Christmas!

Okay, so she's LOOOONG overdue, but I hope you guys find her worth the wait. Get Ice here.

There's a chill in the air...

Hmm, my MUGEN pages are starting to freeze over... I wonder what's happening...;)

Ah, what the heck...
Monday, May 09, 2005
A few new screenshots, just for the heck of it, even though I was going to keep them under wraps a bit longer.

Labels: Ice
I'm also WAAAAAY overdue for a site update. That'll happen with my next character releases...
Ice & Lobo are in their final finishing touches now before release. I'm not gonna give a date, because I'll probably blow it, but I can say that they're both really close.
After that will most likely be Marrow. Then GL (Enzo is working fast on his share of the edits, which is turning out to be most of them! :))

Almost there...
Tuesday, March 15, 2005
McCready & Magus have been adding cool new stuff to Ice, and she's ALMOST ready for release... really. No really, I mean it. ;pAnyway, here's some of the sweet new stuff these guys have contributed:

Uber-cool new hyper portrait...

and new "frozen" state images, courtesy of McCready

Head stomp move, courtesy of Magus
Expect to see more news sometime next week.

Guess I owe everyone an update...
Friday, March 04, 2005
I've been busy with a bunch of stuff, some MUGEN related and a lot of them not. But so you know that there IS progress in my WIPs, I wanted to give you all a "State of the WIPs" update.

Lobo
Basics are all re-done with shinguards, thanks to Magus's help.
Voice is more or less done.
I'm re-editing the sprites for his Hook and Frag specials; they weren't very good. :|
Ice
I feel like she's so close to being finished that it's hard not to just release her now as-is... but there are still a few things she needs added. Magus just sent me a load of new sprites for her (things like a recovery roll and alpha counter), and she still needs a few sprites to finish her Amalgam attack, but she's most likely going to be my next release.
Her voice is also more or less done, thanks to some donated stuff from Loganir. :)
Green Lantern
If you've been visiting my site for very long at all you know that this guy's been on my "TO DO" list for pretty much my entire public MUGEN career. Well, thanks to my friend Enzo, he may someday soon become a reality... Enzo's sprite editing skills have increased TREMENDOUSLY over the past few months, and he has volunteered to help sprite a bunch (most?) of GL's stuff, so that the char actually gets done (what an amazing concept :-p). He's done a great job so far in making the new sprites fit the style that PrimeOp did so well in the sprites that HE finished, it should be seamless. I hope to post more here soon.
Marrow
Somebody has finally figured out the ArtMoney tables for Marvel vs Capcom 2, so a full sprite sheet of Marrow has finally been released. With that, I'll finally be able to go back and add in the stuff that my old WIP was missing... but there are still some pretty major programming bugs that I need to find and correct before she sees release... and somebody out there just might beat me to it, if I don't hurry. :-P
Silver Surfer
X-Boy recently sent me some new stuff he's working on, but it's not ready for me to add yet. Maybe I'll update this soon.
So I guess the theme of this update is, "I get by with a little help from my friends." Every single WIP I'm actively working on has had other people involved as well. Guess I just work better in groups. ;)

Long time no see
Friday, December 03, 2004
Thought I'd post something here, since it's been over 3 months without an update. The DC vs Marvel team is hard at work, putting together a little Christmas present for everyone... hopefully we can make it in time, but it'll be tight. Some teases:

A little something I've been working on as a nice anti-air move for Ice. Smogon's idea, my sprites & code. ;)

More Ice work
Saturday, August 07, 2004
Worked some more on Ice today; I added air versions of her Ice Ball and Ice Slick specials, and tweaked the behavior of the Blizzard hyper to make it more helpful & balanced.
What's left before Ice is released:
- 2 more specials (Ice Maiden and Ice Reflector)
- Amalgam hyper (Iceberg)
- 2 modified air kicks (so she looks less like Chun-Li)
Oh, also: I need a female (not a male with a high voice! =P) willing to record voices for Ice's sound file... if anyone's interested, please email me.

Pretty Slick Trick, Rick
Wednesday, August 04, 2004
I've started working on Ice again after taking a break for a while to work on my other WIPs... tonight I just added the "Ice Slick" special Smogon gave me, seen here. She can lay down as many ice slicks as she wants at any given time, and each stays on the ground for a few seconds (just over 3) before melting. If the opponent walks on one, they slip and fall down... it doesn't do them much damage, but it keeps them away, so they can't perform their big nasty up-close combos on you. (Take that, you stupid pixie characters!!! >:))

Time for an update...
Tuesday, August 03, 2004
Gee whiz, time goes by more quickly than you'd expect it to. Lots of stuff has happened since last post here (remember, Warmachine Madness forums are much more active when it comes to finding out what I'm doing ;)).Lobo: Main Men and Mr. Hook are done. Working on his Frag! special, but it still needs to be balanced. When the air version if done, I'll be releasing Beta 1. Not long now. Also, this Lobo the Duck sprite was done for a sprite contest over at Warmachine Madness, but it's the basis for the Amalgam hyper Lobo's going to eventually have (except it might not be a proton cannon by that point)

Ice, Parasite, & Green Lantern: Actually I haven't worked on them since last update, but they're coming to the top in the pile of WIPs that I have on my plate now... I'm afraid I've taken on a bit more than I should have at once. :-
Marrow's nearly done. Just have to clean up the nasty sprites from the Bone Buster & Stinger Bones hypers, and fix the programming of the Ricochet Slash and Ride & Slash specials (both are off a bit). She'll very likely be my next release.
Guido: He's coming along rather nicely. Has a few specials & hypers now, McCready's working on a few more and he'll be done. Maybe in a few months...

Silver Surfer: X-Boy, the guy who's Human Torch WIP I'm programming for the Fantastic Four Project, has sent me a slew of cool Silver Surfer sprites, so I've started putting him together too (Torch is on hold, by the way, until Surfer is done). I've got his standing basics done, and have sprites for most of his gethits, crouching & air basics, so they'll be coming up soon too.

20 lashings with a wet noodle...
Thursday, May 20, 2004
Okay, okay, so you people probably want an update, since it's been almost 2 months since I've done one. =P (I shouldn't have to remind you, that the forum is the place that news usually hits first)Anyway, what to tell you?
First, Lobo. Beta 1 (remember, the last version was an Alpha) should be coming pretty soon. I just have a few more things in his "Mister Hook" special and "Main Men" hyper that need tweaking. Previews...

Ice. She's nearly beta-quality now, but Smogon & I have agreed to continue working on her until she's 100% complete... which shouldn't be TOO much longer, I hope. As of now she's got the Iceball special and Hyper Iceball super, as well as a Blizzard super that gives her an advantage over her opponent (unless it's Iceman, Sasquatch, or another Ice!). Some pics:

Parasite. I've had a heck of a time with this guy, but I've got a frankensprited stance nearly complete, it just needs a little upper-body animation, and the costume detailing:
Human Torch. Actually, nothing new to report here. :-.
Think that covers it for now. ;)
New WIPs
Saturday, March 13, 2004
Lots of new news. Three items I'll touch on today.1. Erradicator has started programming GokuEX3's Superboy WIP whose preview page I host. A beta should be coming soon!
2. McCready has asked me to code the Strong Guy (Guido Carrosella) character WIP he's doing with GokuSSJ4 for ProjectX.
3. Smogon has asked me to code the Ice (Tora Olafsdotter) character WIP he's doing for DCvsMarvel.
This teaser shot shows very early versions of both Guido and Ice:
I'll most likely not be doing WIP pages for these, since coding isn't really something you can preview in any systematic way, like you can with sprite editing. But watch this space soon for more, including an update with new stuff I've (FINALLY!) started doing on Parasite.
